Privacy policy
This policy explains what information Handwriting Repeater ("we", "us") collects when you use this website, and how we use it. We collect as little as possible.
Who we are
Handwriting Repeater is run by an independent developer in the UK. For anything about your privacy, email hello@handwritingrepeater.uk.
What you type and draw
The handwriting repeater runs in your web browser. Text you type and anything you write or draw on the page stays on your own device and is never sent to our servers. The page clears when you leave the site.
Your tool settings (such as pen colour and page lines) and your practice statistics (such as your streak and minutes practised) are stored in your browser's local storage, so they're there next time. You can delete them at any time by clearing your browser's data for this site.
If you use Share Link, your typed text and settings are saved inside the link itself. Anyone you give the link to can see them.
Information we collect
- Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider records basic technical details when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request. We use these logs only to keep the site secure and working, and they're deleted automatically after a short time.
- Emails you send us. If you email us, we receive your email address and your message. We use them only to reply, and we delete them when they're no longer needed.
- Cookies. Our advertising and analytics partners use cookies, as explained below.
Cookies
Cookies are small files that a website stores on your device. The tool itself doesn't need cookies to work. Google uses cookies on this site to show ads and to measure how the site is used.
When you first visit, a consent message asks whether you agree to these cookies. You can change your choice at any time with the privacy settings link that appears on the page, or by clearing cookies in your browser settings.
Advertising
We use Google AdSense to show ads. Ads keep the handwriting repeater free for everyone.
- Google and its partners use cookies to show ads based on your previous visits to this website and other websites.
- In the UK, Google only shows personalised ads if you agree. If you don't, you may still see non-personalised ads, which are based on the page you're viewing rather than your browsing history.
- You can turn off personalised ads at any time in Google's Ads Settings, or opt out of some other companies' personalised ads at aboutads.info.
To find out more, read how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages and features people use, so we can improve the site. It collects information such as your approximate location, device and the pages you view. It doesn't tell us who you are, and it only sets cookies if you agree. You can also block it with Google's opt-out browser add-on.
Our legal basis
We use advertising and analytics cookies only with your consent. We keep server logs and reply to emails because we have a legitimate interest in running a secure website and answering questions.
Sharing and international transfers
We don't sell your personal data. Google, as our advertising and analytics provider, and our hosting provider process data for us. Google may process data outside the UK. When it does, it uses the safeguards that UK data protection law requires.
Children
Children can use the tool with an adult's supervision. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children, and the tool doesn't ask for any.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask to see, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, object to how we use it, or withdraw your consent at any time. Because the tool keeps your writing on your device, we usually hold very little. To make a request, email hello@handwritingrepeater.uk.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when we last changed it.
